<p>Narthael's hag Grandmother. Narthaels parents made a deal with her - she would gift them a child, and they would in return give up that which they cared for most.</p>
<p>Grandma Mary has a “cooperation” with the Castigian Cabal, sharing magic techniques with them on how to extract magic from beings with inherent magical abilities. She herself gets joy out of the suffering these techniques cause said creatures - especially other fey, whom she despises after she was driven out of the Forbidden Forest. Grandma Muriel sees aiding the Cabal's efforts as spreading misery and tragedy to people of Marcandria, something which she delights in.</p>

<p>Grandma Mary has lived for centuries, and is even included in several Marcandrian tales and plays, either as Green Mary, Mary the Green, or simply Mary – with her often just being depicted as a wise old woman.</p>
