In contrast to the Cabal's aspirations, Shar, their enigmatic guide, harbors distinct goals. Discontented with the other deities' ploy to seal off the world from the realms beyond, thus rendering beings from those places, including the deities themselves, unable to directly influence the world, Shar seeks to exploit the seal's imperfect and deteriorating nature. Her aim is to create a significant breach in a location closely aligned to a place where she holds great strength—the Shadowfell. Through this breach, Shar intends to make herself the dominating influence in the world, causing it to fall into entropy—to crumble and succumb, leaving only disorder, darkness, and loss, where all are ultimately forced under her sway. Unbeknownst to the Cabal, Shar views them as mere tools to be discarded when they are no longer of use. It is ironic that, just as the Cabal covertly manipulates individuals to serve their interests, Shar manipulates the Cabal itself to further her own agenda.

In contrast to the Cabal's aspirations, Shar, their enigmatic guide, harbors distinct goals.
Organization

Organization

The Castigian Cabal follows a rigid structure, where each member is expected to carry out the orders of their superior to the letter. This is no matter what is being asked, with the only exception being if what's being asked could be considered to go against the Cabal's interest. Following though on difficult orders are considered to be proofs of commitment and loyalty. Proving one's commitments and loyalty is the primary way to gain a higher position within the Castigian Cabal. The Cabal will reward these individuals by placing them in more strategically influential and important positions outside the Cabal, before promoting them internally. The task of receiving this position, which tend to require some work from the member as well, is seen as the final test to make themselves worthy of a promotion within the Cabal. The Cabal does not consider those coerced into cooperating with them as actual members, but rather as tools or assets. The Cabal's inner circle delegate the control of these to trusted members, typically a member in said inner circle, who are then in charge of keeping them firmly under control and make sure they follow the Cabal's wishes and directions.

The Castigian Cabal, excluding those who are being coerced into working with them, follows the following structure:

Shadow Initiate

Veiled Magistrate

Veiled Enforcer

Shade

Veiled Hierarch

Nightseer

People gain rank through acts of loyalty, combined with how useful they are to the Cabal. Cabaal actively seeks to prompt up those who continuously prove themselves commited and loyal to the cause.

People gain rank through acts of loyalty, combined with how useful they are to the Cabal.
Those coerced into cooperating with Cabal are not considered members. They are simply seen as tools or assets. The Cabal simple seeks to keep them cooperative and firmly control them. The general exchange is that the Cabal gives them orders, with the threat of harming their, their loved ones, or their posessions, should they refuse to mete them out, or should they decide to tell anyone about anything regarrding the Cabal.

Those coerced into cooperating with Cabal are not considered members.
