This book look, to put it mildly, old. The pages are fragile, slightly brown, and quite worn down.

The title written on the cover, in half-faded text, is “The Concalian Curse”.

The records described in the book appears to be from quite a few centuries in the past.

The records described in the book appears have been written during the 10th century A.D. From the introduction it starts describing alleged sightings of incorporeal creatures in the city - which is at a point clearly stated to refer to Alatri. The first portion of the book appears to be a log on these alleged sightings, with the log spanning decades. It is quite clear from the entries that the sightings are slowly becoming more frequent - though at a rate that is only noticeable when viewed over a timeline spanning at least decades. The author also note numerous personal investigations and attempts at witnessing the incorporeal creatures from these alleged sightings - and were able to successfully witness, though not properly investigate, the creatures during some of these attempts. These entries note that the incorporeal creatures seem to slowly appear, as if slowly crossing over from somewhere else, but notes that it appears as if the process stops part-way before reversing, causing the creature to slowly fade again.

The records described start from several hundreds of years ago. The book describes incorporeal creatures having started to appear below the city of Alatri, and is keeping track of and investigating occurrences related to these appearances. The book gives off a permeating feeling of worry, as with every new event described, the occurrences appear to become increasingly frequent and increasingly severe - with each occurrence describing more and more creatures appearing.

The author also seem to have toured the other major Concalian ruins in the later portions of the book - confirming that the same occurrences seem to appear there. The book concludes that all major Concalian ruins appear to be cursed, with creatures from another plane apparently shifting over to this plane ever more frequently, and in ever increasing numbers. The book also concludes that Alatri, being built on top of the ruins of one such major Concalian ruin, should either be completely abandoned, or measures should be taken to contain - and eventually reverse - this apparent curse.
