- Notes on mega-kraken: The book mentions fables and stories surrounding very powerful monsters that are rumored to “slumber in the depths of the ocean”. He who whispers from the deep, The Ocean's Nightmare, The Everhunger, The First Hydra, and more. Numerous fables and tales from seamen regarding those. Basically what we would consider sailor's superstitions, except this is a fantasy world where a lot of them are probably based on something true-ish.
