The Cabal's schemes have been numerous. While the effects of their schemes were most notable in the years following the Marcandrian Royal Family's assassination in the winter of 1349AD, the Cabal had by then already been active for decades, slowly and methodically expanding their reach and influence in secret. The Royal Family's assassination, which was the Cabal's doing, acted as the tipping point where the Cabal went from a phase quietly growing their reach and influence in secret, to a phase of actively trying to deteriorate the Marcandrian state and its institutions. Much of the ailments and schisms that formed in Marcandrian society following the winter of 1349AD were the result of the Cabal's schemes.
