+This book appears to be some sort of diary - or rather somewhere to scribble one's thoughts and vent one's feelings. Based on the location where it was found, it probably belonged to one of Moretti's apprentices. The “diary” is disorderly, and without any dates, making it difficult to discern how old the entries are.
+A common theme as one skims through the pages is that the later one gets, the more complaining there is. The general theme seem to be complaining about longer and longer hours preparing materials for Moretti, and a general complaint regarding how it's now less fun working under Moretti than it used to be. The following entry sums this up:
+“Another long day today. I'm not sure how many more of these I can take. I'm basically either sleeping or helping the Headmistress prepare materials at this point. She seems to have gotten more and more impatient lately, I even feared for Efrem's life when he messed up one of the batches today. She sounded so angry that I was sure she was going to murder him. I mean, she's always been strict, but I feel like she used to be more fair. It felt like she cared even when she berated you for screwing up. Now it feels more like we're just a nuisance. Being her apprentice was my dream. It used to be so much fun. It's no longer fun. It's just endless hours of tedious work. She's not even really teaching us anything anymore. We're basically at the point of having to sacrifice sleep to practice where we sleep.”
