The Meranzeum is the largest religious organization in Marcandria, as well as being one of — if not the — most influential faction in Marcandria is a whole. It is dedicated to and worships the Marcandrian goddess Meranzi, who represents liberty, knowledge, exceptionalism, commerce, and trade. Commerce and trade is seen as of particular importance to Meranzi, which means it is also of particular importance to the Meranzeum.
The Meranzeum is a truly massive organization with incredible wealth. Their wealth and the fact that they are the official representatives and clergy to the most widely worshipped goddess in Marcandria gives them a massive influence over the Marcandrian population. The organization is involved in several aspects of Marcandrian society and will always have numerous ventures and endeavors underway. They operate as a massive trade enterprise; a bank; a library; an educational institution; a research facility; and most importantly an investor into Marcandrian society and its people. All of these efforts are perhaps best understood when viewing the Meranzeum as a religiously motivated enterprise who seeks to spread the influence of their goddess Meranzi — and who seek to propel Marcandrian society toward Meranzi's promised golden prosperous future, in which all Marcandrians may prosper and live in happiness.
