The Cabal are acutely aware that they stand little chance should all of the other influential actors in Marcandria decide to unite against them. This is one of the primary reasons as to why they put so much emphasis on operating from the shadows, to make sure their plans and schemes remaining unknown and unnoticed. Accomplishing all of their other goals without anyone realizing what they're up to, or even of their existence, is a goal in an of itself. The Cabal therefore needs to keep their adversaries divided and in conflict with one another to avoid having them interfere with the Cabal's ultimate goal of dismantling the prevailing power structure and bring about their envisioned future - a future that is more fair, and more just, where everyone is given their rightful place in society. The Cabal will typically attempt to recruit as many influential people from the other factions as possible, often promising them a specific and more prevalent position in their envisioned future to help convince them to join their cause. People who do not join willingly, but the Cabal deems possible to force into cooperating through coercion and threats, may find themselves in this exact position. The Cabal will typically to bring everything the person possesses and loves to ruin if they do not cooperate, something the Cabal has time and time again proven they have the means to do. The Cabal seeks to control those who they, one way or another, could not bring to their cause by instigating infighting or conflicts between them and another faction.
